English Premier League

Ok, I was unable to view any of the games that took place the past weekend, but I was able to view the highlights. What I saw amazed me. It was shocking to see an A1 team (Liverpool) bow out to a "struggling" Midlesboro. It was funny to see that with the return of Fernando Torres, Liverpool saw the need to sell Robie Keane who in my eyes was doing better than Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel. It was proven over the weekend that he was needed seeing that Torres was unable to play due to a hamstring injury. Rafa Benitez had no choice but to turn to Ryan Babel, whom we see is still struggling to find form for the season and Kuyt who's first touch continues to let him down. This in fact turns me to my next point and question. After an embarrasing defeat to a struggling Boro team, is the Title race for Liverpool still on? On the other hand, Chelsea is finally finding some sort of consistency after they fired Scolari a couple weeks aback, for they now sit in second place, tied on points with Liverpool but on top due to goal difference. With Drogba scoring in the Champions League match up with Juventus but still cannot seem to find the back of the net in the premier league. Given the fact that he was injured for most of the season and is now looking comfortable on the pitch once again makes me wonder if their Titile race challenge is still alive. With the leaders being seven (7) points ahead of the second and third place teams with a game in hand, Manchester United have the chance to make it a ten point defecit between them and Chelsea and Liverpool tomorrow when they take on Newcastle. The former champions, over the weekend, won their second pice of silverware for the 08/09 season by defeating Tottenham Hotspurs 4 - 2 in a mathc that had to be decided by penalties. Sources say that the ECL and EPL champions are looking forward to taking a clean sweep seeing that they are still currently active in all competitions (FA Cup, European Champions League, and English Premier League). Then we have Aston Villa who up until lately we having one of their best seasons lately. They are only three points before Liverpool and Chelsea and are hoping to atleast finish within the top three.
